What People Say

"Coming from a family with no history of developmental disabilities or neurological disorders, it was hard for me to hear “Your child is on the Autism Spectrum.” I was lost and confused. I went through stages of denial, grief, and even blaming myself. I tried to learn as much as I could about this “thing” that had ripped through our lives. I started to realize just how perfect our son was in his own beautiful way and reached a level of acceptance. Therapies began and little glimmers of hope began to show through in his everyday behavior. Speech therapy with Miss Natasha Bala, SLP, in particular, really helped our son make a 180-degree turn. From the beginning, our son had minimal language. He would grunt or point to let us know what he needed or wanted. Mealtime was just as frustrating. His limited repertoire of foods he would eat included; macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, fruit, and children’s protein shakes. Textures and appearances of food scared him away and would make him gag. Along the way, with weekly appointments, things began to change. Our son enjoyed coming to session and having his little “snack” for food therapy. This introduced him to an abundance of different foods and now he enjoys eating almost everything! Along with food therapy, the work that Miss Bala did with him expanded his vocabulary, improved his pronunciation, and even benefitted him cognitively. Miss Bala allowed our son to have a comfortable environment to learn in and was incredibly patient with him during session. He has progressed so much during his time with her that most people cannot even tell there were ever any issues. I really could never thank her more! She has made such a large impact on my son’s life and ours. We will forever be thankful!"

"“Your son is developmentally delayed we are going to need to send him to speech therapy,” the doctor said. No parent ever wants to hear the word developmentally delayed. I was nervous as I walked in with Hunter to our first speech appointment. My nerves were quickly dissolved as I saw how Natasha or as my son calls her Ms. Tasha treated him. I had no idea how much she would help him on his journey to be able to speak. After no time at all he was able to communicate so much better I couldn't believe it. In fact he went from very little words to talking a mile a minute. The bond my son made with her I know he will never forget and I as a parent couldn't be more grateful for all that she has done."
